2023 US Open Men’s Singles Top Contenders

Djokovic and Alcaraz have been alternating between top US Open favorites throughout 2023. With both in the quarterfinals, they were still the top two, however, Medvedev upset the odds and reached the final.

  • [Sep 8] Following his win over Frances Tiafoe in the quarters, Ben Shelton has seen his odds halved from +8000 to +4000.

  • [Aug 28] As the tournament gets ready to begin, Djokovic is now favored at +125 just ahead of Alcaraz at +190

US Open Men’s Singles Championships By Country

Medvedev became the second Russian to win the event, with the first being Marat Safin in 2000.

No American has won since Andy Roddick in 2003, but the United States still has 85 total wins. With Alcaraz winning in 2022, Spain now has the third-most wins with seven.

2023 US Open Women’s Singles Top Contenders

Switaek was the favorite all throughout 2023 to defend who title as US Open winner. However, entering the quarterfinals, it’s now Sabalenka who is favored followed by Gauff and Vondrousova.

  • [Sep 8] Aryna Sabalenka remains as the favorite going into Saturday night’s finals, but just barely. Her average odds to win the US Open sit at -120, compared to Coco Gauff’s average of -102.
  • [Sep 5] With tournament favorite Swiatek upset in the round of 16, Sabalenka has taken over as the US Open Women’s Single favorite at +190 odds as the tournament heads into the quaterfinals
  • [Aug 28] Coco Gauff’s odds have shortened this month from +1400 to +700 to make her the third favorite in the US Open odds as the first round begins
  • [Aug 15] Swiatek comes in as the top favorite with the US Open nearing, with both Sabalenka and Rybakina following in the top three. Pegula’s odds have shortened from +1600 down to +1000 during the season, Mirra Andreeva, who was notwhere near the top 20 earlier in the season, now has US Open odds of +2000, making her a top ten favorite now
  • [Feb 17] Iga Swiatek is the early favorite by a wide margin at +250 odds, followed by Aryna Sabalenka at +700

US Open Women’s Singles Championships By Country

Americans have generally dominated the event, but have just one win (Sloane Stephens in 2017) in the last eight years. In 2022 Swiatek became the first Polish woman to win the event, while in 2021 Emma Raducanu was only the second British woman to win in the Open Era since Virginia Wade in 1968.
