Super Bowl Odds Movement
Here are some notes on the movement of the top contenders for Super Bowl 58:
- [March 11] The Falcons have seen their Super Bowl odds improve from +4000 to +2800 after signing Kirk Cousins in free agency. Saquon Barkley landing in Philadelphia has improved the Eagles’ odds, but only slightly.
- [January 29] After the Chiefs downed the Ravens in last year’s AFC Championship, they have seen their Super Bowl 59 odds improve as well. Kansas City now has the second-best odds to win the 2025 Super Bowl.
- [January 21] Super Bowl 59 odds have already opened and the 49ers are the clear favorites at +550 odds. The Bills opened with the second-best odds, followed by the Ravens and then the Chiefs. The biggest surprise (to some) might be the Lions tied with the Bengals for the fifth-best odds
2025 Super Bowl Favorites
The early favorites to win Super Bowl 59 basically mimic the teams who we saw thrive last season. We have the 49ers, Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, and Lions as the top five contenders to win the 2025 Super Bowl. The Bengals, Dolphins, Eagles, Packers, and Cowboys round out the top ten contenders. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers open as the favorites in spite of losing Super Bowl 58 to the Chiefs. The hope is Brock Purdy continues growing and their defense can improve under Steve Wilks in Year 2 – they played very well in the Super Bowl, particularly the first half.
Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City is coming off their second straight Super Bowl championship. There’s little left to say other than Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are incredibly tough to stop.
Baltimore Ravens
In spite of never being favored to win the Super Bowl last year, the Ravens looked like the best team in football, especially down the stretch of the regular season. However, they stumbled yet again in the playoffs, falling to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship.
Lamar Jackson, last year’s NFL MVP, is locked up long-term, though. Baltimore also has a lengthy list of young stars who are still blossoming. If Keaton Mitchell can make it back from his season-ending torn ACL without losing any of his explosion, the Ravens will be a tough team to beat.
Buffalo Bills
Just like the Ravens above, the Bills also stumbled yet again in the playoffs last year. Josh Allen is undoubtedly one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he just can’t beat Patrick Mahomes (or Joe Burrow) in the playoffs.
Buffalo might be in the market for another wide receiver after Stefon Diggs turned in a bit of an underwhelming season, which was capped off by only catching three balls for 21 yards in the Divisional Round against the Chiefs.
Detroit Lions
If you happened to miss last NFL season, the Lions being a top contender must be very weird to you. Detroit was an awful second half away from heading to their first Super Bowl last year. But the team retains its core talent, which also includes OC Ben Johnson.
They’ll have some work to do on the defensive side of the ball, but their offense looks to be one of the league’s best units.

The answer you’ll get to, “who is predicted to win Super Bowl 59?” just depends who you ask. If you ask sportsbooks, the answer is the San Francisco 49ers.

The official spread for the Super Bowl will not be available until we know the teams playing. However, sportsbooks will likely open an early line featuring the AFC representative vs NFC representative shortly.

Here are some Super Bowl trends to consider before placing any wagers:
- The AFC has won seven of the last ten Super Bowls
- The Patriots, Broncos, or Chiefs have represented the AFC in ten of the last 11 Super Bowls; Cincinnati is the outlier in 2022
- The New England Patriots have still represented the AFC in four of the last ten Super Bowls, winning three of them
- The AFC’s top seed has advanced to the Super Bowl in seven of the last 11 seasons; the no. 2 seed has advanced in two of the last six seasons
- From 2004 to 2019, the starting quarterback for the AFC was either Tom Brady (8), Peyton Manning (4), or Ben Roethlisberger (3) in 15 of the 16 Super Bowls. Joe Flacco was the only other AFC QB to start a Super Bowl in that span. It has now been Patrick Mahomes in four of the last five seasons.
- The Seattle Seahawks are the only NFC team to appear in back-to-back Super Bowls (Super Bowls 48 & 49) since the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowls 31 & 32
- The NFC North has not represented the NFC in the Super Bowl since SB 45 (Green Bay)
- Seven of the last 11 NFC teams to play in the Super Bowl were the top seed in the conference – Atlanta in Super Bowl 51, Los Angeles in Super Bowl 53, Tampa Bay in Super Bowl 55, and Los Angeles in Super Bowl 56 were not

Here are some fun Super Bowl facts:
- Only one team in the AFC South has ever won a Super Bowl: the Indianapolis Colts. All seven other divisions have at least two Super Bowl-winning teams.
- Since moving back to Oakland (from Los Angeles) in 1995, the franchise has not won a Super Bowl and has only made the playoffs five times in those 27 years. The move to Las Vegas has changed their luck a little, as they made the 2022 NFL playoffs.
- The NFC East is the only division where every team has won a Super Bowl.
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers became the only team to win a home Super Bowl in 2021. Tom Brady led the Bucs to a victory in Super Bowl 56, which was played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. But the LA Rams followed suit in 2022, winning Super Bowl 56 at SoFi Stadium, which is where they played their home games all season.
- The Buffalo Bills were the last non-Patriots AFC East team to play in a Super Bowl, dating back to the 1993 season (Super Bowl 28) when they lost in their fourth consecutive appearance.
